Notes
After having been Head of School at the Hull School of Architecture (today the Lincoln School of Architecture) in the UK, Alick Potter was recruited in 1957 as Founder, Head of Department and Professor of Architecture at the University of Khartoum. Eventually, the school became one of the main centers of architectural education in the Islamic world. Potter was very interested in the Modern movement, which he incorporated in his teaching.
Potter's students, among them Omer ElAgraa and
ElAmin Mudather, developped what became known as the Khartoum Style. This eventually developped into the
Abdel Moneim School of Architecture.
