She’s an American born architect married to Iraqi architect Nizar Ali Jawdat Al-Ayoubi and was therefore known as Ellen Jawdat Al-Ayoubi. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Arts from Vassar College in 1942 and then gained her Masters in Architecture from Harvard University. After marrying Nizar Ali Jawdat, she went back to Iraq where she designed several of her buildings one of which was the Americal High School for Girls in Baghdad in 1956.
