Notes
The first phase of the Aquamarina beach resort was designed by Joseph Philippe Karam in the early 1970s. It is located in Maameltein on a cliff that overlooks a serene inlet at the northern area of the bay of Jounieh, the thoroughly designed swimming pool and restaurants were placed on top of the hill, linked to a glass elevator connecting them to the marina below. The main tower and the lower buildings plans were dominated by a triangular layout aiming to capture the southeast and southwest vistas. Each of these structures’ elevators, mechanical, and ancillary spaces were placed to the rear offering the residential units a frontal view towards the seascapes.

J. P. Karam passed away before he could finish the Aquamarina project. The second resort (Aquamarina 2) was developed by his son, architect Fadi Karam, a graduate from ETH Zurich.
