Notes
In this house, the architect creates clear distinction between the different floors and the constituent elements of the building. For instance, the brick-cladded walls of the ground floor extend horizontally, beyond the edges of the floor above, to emphasize their structural function. The walls of the floor above are treated with white concrete and then painted with white plaster. This treatment amply contrasts the fairfaced concrete protruding balconies as well as the bands marking the separation between the different levels and delineating the roof. The roof also features railing that expresses its function as a usable space. The architect intends for this house to be a modern homage to the traditional Baghdadi houses. Moreover, it is surrounded with a green landscape rich in Mediterranean plants.
