Notes
"Research shows that inhabitants of Industrial Cities often develop cardiovascular diseases with time, therefore the Egyptian Cotton Company decided to build a Cardiology Clinic and hospital in it's new Industrial City in Mahala al-Kubra in 1943. Upon a deal reached with the Ministry of Health in 1942, the ECC would build the complex and lease it to the Ministry of Health, which in turn would furnish, provide all the medical facilities and needs, and run the Hospital.
The ECC approached architect Mahmoud Riad, as the office was developing the ECC's other Industrial City Masterplan in Kafr el Dawar, in July of 1943, to build the Hospital on a 20 acre piece of land. The complex, which was delivered to the Ministry of Health on the 31st of March, 1947, is built on 5% of the site, houses 150 beds on four floors, and cost 30 thousand pounds.
The office designed and oversaw the construction process with Mohamed Hassan al Abd Pasha as contractor." (RiadArchitecture)
