Notes
In addition to designing a center for the disabled within Isa Town (a complex designed in 1968 by John Wimpy), Makiya also built the gateway to the project.
A civic monument commissioned by the Ministry of Labor, the gateway is composed of four arched galleries placed symmetrically on both sides of a narrow central arcade which exceeds them in height. The two larger galleries usher in the vehicular circulation, while the lateral ones serve the pedestrian flow. The monumental gateway is an abstract reinterpretation of the traditionally vaulted gate, achieving its massive character by using multiple rows of parallel ribs.
