Mahmoud Shoukri Apartment Building

Since his early career, the architect has put into practice the novelties of architectural thinking in his projects. For instance, he deployed in his Mahmoud Shoukri Apartement Building design ingenious architectural solutions distinguishing each facade as per their different orientations and functions. For the western facade of this building, he sheltered the balconies with vertical wooden louvers to protect from sun rays. In that manner he was able to obtain a 7-degree decrease in temperature from the outside while allowing the wind passage through. And for the first time in Cairo's streets, was a modern building covered with wooden elements in their natural colors, engendering a well received and revered reference to Islamic architecture.
