Notes
This building is the result of a limited competition held in 1992, to build Oman's largest Mosque. Mohamed Makiya is seen to have created a successful contemporary version of the old building type of Mosques with the domed central prayer hall, five minarets, and courtyards. Contemporary building and structural techniques were employed, which was one of the most important requirements in the competition brief.
