University of Oran
Tange elaborated the master plan for the University of Oran, a largely low-rise complex dominated by the vertical tower of the administration center. He is also behind several buldings on campus and surrounding university facilities. He designed the university hospital in 1971, and the dormitories in 1977, organized in nine square-shaped clusters. In 1976, he was commissioned to design the School of Architecture and Urban Planning.
His work on the University of Oran served as a stepping stone, whereby in 1976 he also was assigned the Women's Dormitory at the University of Constantine, and several significant projects in Algeria since.
