Pierre Neema was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1931, of Lebanese parents who had settled in Egypt. After his degree in architecture from the Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1958, he worked there until 1961, when he moved to Beirut to work with engineer Bahij Makdisi (Schayer and Adib had left Makdisi to open their own firm). Between 1962 and 1973, Neema had a partnership with Jacques Aractingi and Joseph Nassar under the name of
CETA group.
In 1985, Neema established Pierre Neema & Associates in partnership with architect Meguerditch Yapoudjian.
ALBA graduate Yapoudjian had worked with several architectural firms then became chief of Architectural department in Dar Al-Handasah-Nazih Taleb, Lebanon before the partnership with Neema was established.
Neema was a member of the board of the Academie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts and was head of the school of architecture between 1983 and 2012.
Neema passed away in Paris on June 2, 2015.
