Notes
Formed in 1945 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, by Walter Gropius and seven younger architects: Benjamin Thompson, John C. Harkness, Sarah P. Harkness, Norman C. Fletcher, Jean B. Fletcher, Robert S. McMillan, and Louis A. McMillan. Together, they designed a number of buildings, notably public schools and hospitals. The firm stood out for its collaborative group work approach, unlike the growing norm of specialization at the time. TAC operated at a global scale, and had a solid reputation in the Middle East. They are known to have collaborated with the Iraqi architect Hisham Munir on a number of projects (See: Hisham Munir & Associates and TAC). In 1995, due to financial difficulties, the firm was officially shut down.
