Points of Contact | 2nd Experimental Roundtable

The exhibition and public program POINTS OF CONTACT brings together multimedia responses and investigations into the architecture of the built environment in Lebanon, and its impact on a human bodily experience. The participating artists, theorists, activists, lawyers and architects will explore an interpenetration of private and public spheres that takes effect through capitalism and conflict.

The exhibition will change and evolve over its duration, being constructed, and reconstructed as each participant presents their work through screenings, conversations, performative lectures, and walking tours, taking place across two experimental roundtable events on January 27 and February 17, 2018.

The project is prepared by the Media Lounge of Goethe-Institut Libanon and curated by Helene Kazan, in collaboration with the Arab Center for Architecture and the British Council Lebanon.

"Home Beirut" Exhibition at the MAXXI

The Arab Center for Architecture is participating in the "Home Beirut" exhibition at the MAXXI, Rome.

The exhibition aims to present some of the most prominent trends in creative investigations of current reality as it is manifested in the evolution and fate of cities. It features 36 artists, architects, filmmakers, musicians, dancers, researchers, and activists negotiating between critical reflections on recent history of conflicts, through archiving and re-enacting memories, and visions of the future, through attempts at urban transformation and global outreaching, all of which will be periodically interrupted by urgent problems and frustrations of the present.

It is divided into multiple parts to depict efforts to construct dwellings in a complex metropolitan environment that accommodates varied intellectual claims, creative imaginations, and political viewpoints.
